Contacting an Orthodontist

Many parents wonder when their child needs to see an orthodontist for the first time.  Although the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven, Dr. Skelton does not usually treat young children unless there is a definite need.  For instance, Dr. Skelton treated a nine-year old boy because he had an underbite (see photographs below).

Although Dr. Skelton is careful not to treat young children who would not have a definite advantage from the corrective treatment, he also knows the dramatic difference that a beautiful smile can make in a person’s life, and takes the patient’s concerns into consideration.
